I usually use Michter's Rye US#1 for making Manhattans, but I recently used Old Overholt and it worked just as well. Especially nice is the price point!

Old Overholt has been available for so long, that I won't go into its background any deeper. What's funny, is the label. Looks like a picture of George Washington, but it's Abraham Overholt – "Father of American distilling". Old Overholt is surely not "The Forgotten Founding Father" (<- yes, that's my lame movie reference)....

My local store was out of Bulliet Rye, my usual go-to for American whiskey, so I picked up a bottle of OO for $12. Very good whiskey, and fantastic for Manhattans and Old Fashioned. Great at the price and just great overall. The only downsides might be the unattractive packaging (superficial I know), and the relatively low rye content in the mash...
