The Old Bushmills distillery is one of the oldest licensed whiskey production facilities in the world, first granted it’s license in 1608. One unusual feature of the Bushmills brand is that both blended and single malt whiskeys are bottled under the Bushmills label. The blends are made from triple distilled Irish malt whiskeys, produced at the Old Bushmills distillery, combined with Irish grain whiskeys, distilled at Middleton Distillery.
Bushmills is famous for it’s blends - the eponymous Bushmills and the premium Black Bush. Many people associate the brand exclusively with blended whiskey however the single malts - bottled at 10, 16 & 21 years - are excellent examples of the smooth & sweet Irish malt whiskey style. Bushmills 10 Year Old Single Malt is particularly good value and a very accessible whiskey with notes of honey, fruit, nougat and vanilla.
