Tullamore Dew (often referred to as Tullamore D.E.W), is a famous Irish whiskey brand with a long, rich heritage. It is the second-best selling Irish whiskey in the world, shipping over 1.5 million cases per year - under the current ownership of William Grant & Sons. Whiskey production started in 1829 in Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland, and had been named after its creator, Daniel Edmund Williams (initials DEW).
In 1954, the original distillery closed, and production was carried out at Midleton Distillery in County Cork when it opened in the 1970s. William Grant & Sons relocated back to Tullamore from 2010-2014 by building a new distillery; this returned production to the town after 60 years.
