Woodford Reserve is distilled in Versailles, Kentucky and although the current distillery buildings date back to 1838, distillation began at the site in 1812 making this the oldest whiskey producer in the state.
The mash bill for the standard Woodford Reserve expression features a high rye content, leading to good levels of spice on the nose and palate. The distillery also regularly releases some very interesting small batch bourbons such as the Reserve Masters series featuring different types of wood maturation.
