Campbeltown in South West Scotland was once regarded as the whisky capital of Scotland, boasting over 30 distilleries at its peak. Most of the distilleries have gone, many falling victim to the ill effects on the industry of prohibition and the great depression. Fortunately a few remain and arguably the most famous of these is Springbank.
The distillery has a relatively small capacity and consequently there is some variation in quality. However when it is on song Springbank produces some sensational expressions and is a much loved brand.
